How would scrunching work for my hair?

I have shoulder length dirty blond hair, its reallly curly in the back, thin where my side bangs are and super thick and puffy in the middle. the only way i can wear it to school without spending 2hours starightening it in the morning is wearing it up which i do pretty much every day. my friend told me to try scrunching it but im not sure it will owrk for my extremly puffy think hair?

help and ideas?

I'm not sure if it will work but you shouldn't try it during the week in case it looks bad because than you'll be stuck with it. Try not to schedule anything for this weekend with guys so you can experiment. One day try scrunching it with gel or whatever you're going to use while your hair is wet. The next day take a shower and let it air dry and try scrunching it with your product. That way you can see which way you like best. Good luck!!

I have natural wavy hair and i've tried several times to wear it like that to school. I wet it, put in mousse and then let it air dry and it looks great. However, by the time I get to school, it's very frizzy and I end up just pulling my hair back. Any ideas?

do a cute up-do that will still let your curls show.

or, avoid going outside in the humid, sweating, or touching your hair a lot. use a de-frizzer from herbal essences or john freida b/4 you use the mousse, this will help too. if this still doesnt work, switch from mousse to gel.

also, you could play around with different names. practice over the weekend, like on a sunday afternoon. scrunching takes about three or four times to get the hang of it. i scrunch my hair a lot now, and it does get a little frizzy. a little frizz is okay, that is what happens with curly hair!

well if your hair is curly or wavy you could put in leave-in-conditioner and then put moose and scrunch it. you can leave it down like that, or put it half way. you could also put a clip to hold all of your hair up, like in the back and then the parts that are left out you could curl it down towards the clip

start french-braiding you hair directly above you left [or right] eye. french-braid it diagonally across your head till its at the base of your neck on the opposite side. put the rest in a side ponytail. it works really well [and looks really cute] w. curly hair.

Head bands are really cool. You can have thick elastic ones or thin funky colored ones. barrettes are also fun. If u want some visual interest up near ur face, instead of something in ur hair, how bout dangling or funky stud earrings? hope i've helped!

i have naturally curly hair and when i brush it out it gets poofy. when i use a straitner it gets more curly. and the frizz junk you put in your hair dont work 4 me either. o and ive also tried the shampoo and conditioner thats supposed to help frizz. go any more ideas?

Use MOM Miracle Oil Moisturizer. It conditions, moisturizes, and repairs normal to dry and frizzy hair. It's done wonders for me. You can find it at most Sally Beauty Supply stores (in Los Angeles, CA). Try it, and I'm certain you'll discover results...quickly!

you could also try using a flat iron with a negative ion actuvator which will seal the cuticle and lock in moisture reducing damage and frizz making the hair shinier and smoother

I have the same dress as a girl, but hers is cut longer and she got the beads taken off. We are tryin to not look alike. I am wearing mascara, eyeliner, lip gloss, blush, concelear, but no eyeshadow. She is going makeup crazy. I am getting a french mani/pedi. She isn't doing nail polish. She has flats; I have heels. She is curling her hair in tight curls, then pinning up her bangs. I need ideas for my hair because I am getting layers and I don't know what to do with my hair. It is going to be a little longer than my shoulders. My hair is naturally, and always, pin straight. mayonaise, is one of the best things to you, I do hair, and got my girlfriend to do it and she does it all the time, it sounds nasty, and it sounds like it might make your hair smell but it doesnt. wash it, and then mix a little conditioner with alot of mayo. Don't color it...just use shine treatments (glaze treatments at the salon, or try "Shine Happy" over the counter)

Continue to get regular trims.

Use an intense conditioner, or hot therapy (matrix has a good one, or go with the old school VO5). Leave conditioner on your hair and wrap with a hot towel to make sure it sinks in, then rinse it out.

Oil your hair daily. What I mean by this is use some type of oil, for example olive or almond, or jojoba works especially well. When your hair is dry, as in after it's already been washed and conditioned and it's not wet anymore, put a couple drops of oil on your palms and rub them together. Rub this through your hair. You only need a minimal amount, not enough to make it greasy and stringy. My hair has the same problem, I'm starting to do that on a daily basis. It seems to be working. I've heard that consistency is key with oiling though, it's not a one time thing.

Ok, blow drying your hair is just going to dry it even more... try letting it air dry if you can. I know people who use mayonaise on there hair. You just put it all over you hair, let it sit for awhile and then shampoo it out... Try to not shampoo your hair every single day, do it every other day, but use conditioner every single day. I have the same kind of hair, so I know your pain. I use Cholesteral from Sally's Beauty Supply. It's this really thick conditioner and you can get it pretty cheap. You put that on your hair after you shower... your hair should still be wet, put a shower cap on your head, wrap your head in a hot towel (I get a towel wet and put it in the microwave for a minute or less... it gets hot so be careful!!) and then wrap your head in another non-heated towel... let the Cholesteral sit for 15-30 minutes and then rinse it out... then you're done. Do this 2-4 times a week and you should notice a huge difference... GOOD LUCK!!!

I know what scenester haircuts look like, but I tried to click on teh links and it didn't show up. But anyway- Nothing should stop you from gettin' a haircut as long as you can pull it off.

(I would suggest better colors if the links worked..) But if you wanted to go for any kind of natural color, I would try burgandy-brown, or blue-black (Last time I got a haircut I dyed it blue-black.)

Okay so for my cousin's graduation I am wearing an orange dress. I was thinking about...curling my hair and starightening the top?!...I cant really explain it. Like i mean i would put my hair into a half ponytail and the part in the clip would be straight and the bottom hair would be crazy curls. Since your hair is very thick. You might just want to consider

taking your time , and just straightening it. Think of the regular

time your hair takes and add about 30 or 45 more , just so

you have enough time. Since its a graduation your hair

doesn't need to be , perfect perfect. Because all the yes

will be mostly on the graduate.

Eyes-

Don't go to heavy or too dark. A line of brown/black eye-

liner , a coat of mascara and a shimmer white or some pale orange eyeshadow will be enough. Since your dress is over

powering and bold already , you don't need much make up.

I can't help you with the hair, but if you have dark hair and dark eyes, either try and match the tone to your dress (orange/coral) tones but be careful not to get too "pinky" and lean more towards the yellow-orange tones. Either that or go with neutrals - shades of brown from light brown to dark brown.

-i have a roundish face, with broad forehead and widest part of the face is the cheek bones.

-have asian hair- coarse, thick, and outta control! JK, its straigh sometimes, but sometimes has a kink in one place.

ok i am getting my haircut on Tuesday and i need some ideas for my hair. i have brown hair that is a little bit choppy side swept bangs and the length of my hair is about 4 inches past my shoulder. i want choppy layers and shorter hair with side swept bangs...but my problem is i have to be able to put all of my hair(except my bangs) into a bun/ponytail for my ROTC class and soccer. anyone help me please and send pics to =)

First my hair is naturally curly. I recently had my hair straightened. My hair gets soo frizzy when I put products in my hair and then a blow dry, or when i use a thick brissle brush. I tried drying it with a cool blow dryer, and that made it look horrible that I had to wet it down again. What advise could you give me for less frizz. 1) If i let my hair air dry, is that a good way for it to be less frizzy and shiny? 2) what products work really well? 3) what should I not do? 4) any other ideas? I feel "hair" helpless. Thanks.

Rules for curly hair:

1. No blow-driers! air dry only. If you do use a blower, use a diffuser, low heat, don't dry it al the way up

2. Wide tooth comb.. no brushes (they split your ends.. damage cuticle)

3. No shampoos that contain Sodium Laryl Sulfate or Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate..read your ingredients! too harsh for hair (its a detergent.. thats what makes your shampoo foam)

4. Wash your hair with conditioner.. and dont wash it all out

5. Dont dry your hair with a towel.. if tis dripping wet get rid of the excess and put leave-in or gel i and let air dry..

use a gel that has PVP/VA

and lots of other stuff....

omg i have the same exact problem!!! i let my hair air dry and it really doesnt get frizzy. stay in air conditon as long as u can(IF U CAN). i made a little thing to do 4 u and ur hair if it helps.

WHAT 2 DO (IF U WANT)

1. SHOWER

2. BRUSH HAIR WITH BRUSH (NOT COMB, COMBS DONT GET ALL THE KNOTS OUT AND LEAVE HAIR FRIZZY WHEN WET. IF U LIKE COMBS U CAN USE THEM BUT I USE A BRUSH)

3. USE SUNSILK (THE GREEN BOTTLE) FRIZZ EASE STUFF. APPLY ON TOP OF UR HEAD AND RUN UR FINGERS THRU UR HAIR WITH IT ON UR FINGERS. THEN BRUSH IT.

4. SIT DOWN AND LET UR HAIR DRY. (POINT:DONT RUN AROUND)

5. (HOPEFULLY) ENJOY UR FRIZZ FREE HASSLE FREE HAIR.

My hair is too frizzy.....?

I like Garnier Fructis anti-frizz serum and the anti-frizz serum from Cristophe from Beverly Hills. You can find his stuff at CVS and some pretty good stuff at Long's Drugs too. I blow dry my hair after I towel dry by wrapping it up and letting is suck the water out of it for a few minutes, then blow dry with a hot setting using a big rectangular brush. I use the pastel big rectangular brush. I think it's put out by conair. Walmart has them. I found this works really good for me. You have to brush and blow dry and keep doing it until the section you work on is dry, then move to the other spots. Also, since your hair is straigntened, I'd recommend herbal essences pin straight shampoo and conditioner and the biosilk line of products.

Any shampoo/conditioner that is made to straighten hair will work wonders!

Also, you should pick up an anti-frizz serum, any kind will work. Just put a little in your hair before you blow-dry and it will make it so your hair wont frizz. Also, if you use a vented brush (one with slits in it, not a squishy one) it will help with blow drying.

As far as brands go, Paul Mitchell works good, along with Bed Head, Catwalk, and Matrix. I would try to stay away from anything with alcohol in it, because it makes hair dry and could cause more frizz.

If you want, you could get your hair care things in the ethnic section, for african american hair, because most of it is alcohol - free and help to stop frizz

As far as products go that really help my hair with the frizzies I personally like Avada but, if that is to pricey then I would go with this stuff Panteen makes. Its a pump that you put in your hair after you wash it. It has done wonders for my hair.But FYI, do not use there shampoos and conditioners. This is a leave in anti frizz serum. There shampoos and conditioners will coat your hair with non, water soluable gunk that will cause your hair to break off and your hairdresser have a cow. Because it coats your hair with a wax and causes it to break off easily.

Dont go out and buy anything expensive.

First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)

Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)

Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)

Use a teaspoon of every oil and honey,.... a little more if ur hair is long or a little less if ur hair is short

Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed, fortify, reconstruct, moisturize, soften %26amp; remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!!

The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower

You can also use a conditioner but get a light conditioner that wont wiegh ur hair down, becuz u can over condition, I use herbl essences "clean happy" conditioner.

When I do this at nite, I wake up, shampoo %26amp; condition, rinse and style as usual. Has worked for years

You can find olive oil anywere, but the other oils you will have to buy at a local organics store, wholes foods or BJ's health corner.

okay... so back in May I cut my hair some.. I was just starting to grow it out and decided to get extensions.. i've done the glue in kind before but this time I went to the salon to do fusion... the extensions turned out to be really dried out and looked horrible because of the quality. My hair on top was shiny and the extensions were dried and dull. In order to get the extensions I had to get my hair thinned and texturized (something I promised myself i would never do again after 2 bad expierences last year doing this).... anyways i get the extensions taken out this week and am scared of what its going to look like... I have hair to my shoulders and now its going to be really layered... I'm thinking of trying bangs... or maybe a shorter look. Any suggestions? I've included a couple pics with long hair (only recent pics i have).... any ideas of cute hair styles i should do are welcome!!!

hmm...I think you should definently take the extentions out and go for a maybe 2 inch layer, but make sure its soft enough, you don't want it to look too severe. also, the bangs could be shorter, maybe a little bit below eye level?

If you get too much layering then the ends will curl under and flip out and it'll look bad unless you straighten it, so I wouldn't recommend going crazy with layering. My friend had one length stick straight hair and what she did was get some side bags and just layered the front a little bit. Keep you length because long hair is really cute, maybe you could do something like Michelle Branch.

I love my hair being curly and for the past year I've let it grow out from the relaxer treatments I was giving it. When I relaxed it the volume of it was controlled but I stopped because I heard how bad it was for the health of the hair. Now the hair around my head sticks is super big! So...I'm on a hunt for answers.

start with the cut. get it cut with a razor by a stylist. they cut using a razor instead of scissors to control thickness and make it mroe manageable.

it all depends on what products you use on your hair. Start with John-Freida frizz ease serum on damp hair. then use a a little mousse that is specific for curl hair.

my friend uses this product called Sedal- Hydraloe leave-in for curly/wavy hair. It's amazing. It's part curling activator/ hair moisturiser. Put this in your hair %26amp;you don't need anything else. It makes curls more defined and not frizzy at all. Don't kno if you'd be able to find that product though that easily where you are though.

I have no real idea about hair apart from the fact i need to straighten mine to keep it flat. i was speaking to someone about straightening hair and she said that i was crazy for not putting heat protection spray on my hair before straightening and said my hair would get frazzled or something.

So do I just go out and buy heat protection spray and apply it before I straighten and is that the same as straightening spray, and if not, do I use both? I really am clueless!

Yeah your hair will burn if you don't protect it... You wouldn't take a hot tray from the oven with out gloves would you?

Check the straightening spray and see does it say ''heat protection'' or something, if it doesn't then get a heat protection spray and use both!

My aunty owns a up-market salon and all the hair dressers there are ALWAYS on at me and my lil cousin (she's 4 months younger! lol!! to use heat sprays! _

P.s. I love guys who are willing to admit that they straighten their hair!! A guy I know claims to straighten it once a month! Yeah right!

Straightening spray just helps straighten it. Heat protection spray coats the hair so it doesn't get as damaged. The best heat protection sprays are CHI Iron Guard or Matrix Iron Guard (not sure if that's the exact name but it's in an orange clear bottle)

Yeah, just buy some heat protection spray and apply it before you straighten it. I use Tresemme heat defense. Heat protection will help prevent your hair drying out. straightening spray will help straighten your hair.

I never use any sprays on my hair when I straighten it. My hair is coarse and really thick and has a strong wave to it. It is also very healthy and grows very fast (grown a foot this past year).

I use a Conair Wet to Dry straightener. It straightens my hair when it is wet. It has ceramic plates and the water in your hair creates steam which puts the moisture in your hair keeping it healthy. This is what my hairdresser told me at least. Since my hair is rather healthy after years of straightening and using no products, I'm gonna believe it.

Then again, everyone's hair is different. What works with my hair may not work with yours.

My thick hair used to be straight and blonde, but as I got older, it turned a deep reddish brown. Now it's really gray, but I keep color on it all the time. My problem is that my hairdresser says my hair is like lambs wool. It's soft but not really curly, just kind of frizzy and not cooperative with styling. As a result, I wear it in a boring ponytail or clipped up rather sloppily.

What cut -- what styling techniques -- or what products might work with my hair texture? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

I know you use a big curling iron but when i blowdry my hair, no matter how i try it ends up straight but fat and wider as you go from top of head to neck. So do i just leave it fatish, or straighten it then curl so its not fat, i have no idea. My hair is somewhat greasy after 1 day of not washing my hair but not bad so maybe i could curl it and not wash first??? I have no idea im tired of straightenin it so please help

OK first of all getting your hair layered is an excellent idea. You would basically be doing more with less. Except don't reduce the length to drastically at first. You should go look at hair styles magazines. My hair was long a few weeks ago but was getting too long to keep up. And since its getting hot outside I wanted it off my back and neck. I used those magazines to get a more 閳ユΜealistic閳?look of how hair is styled. Plus the models in the photos are 閳ユセEAL PEOPLE閳? Some of those magazines you can clip out styles and narrow down your favorites.

You should change your style about 2 or 3 times a year. Cutting your hair keeps it healthy and also keeps your look fresh and you get complements from your family, friends or co-workers.

You can also put it in a pony tail but depending on how many layers you put in, you may have stray shorter layers not staying in place. Layers are also great if you are trying to grow out bangs in a stylish way. (Just an added tid bit)

omg! take my advice! dont get it choppy and shoulder length! unless ur looking for it to flip out alot.. this is my exact hair cut! in the beginning i wanted flips..and it worked out..but i just got it cut and i wanted it regularly layered shoulder length and it still flipped! (my hair has natural body) so if your not a big fan of flips or ur hair has alot of body, dont get ur beautiful brown hair cut!

oh and no..it most likely wont fit in a pony tail (i can only get mine into pigtails)

DON'T cut the length..... layers are great.... although they are semi high maintenance.... if you don't cut the length and just get layers you should be able to still get it in a ponytail.... and the only thing drastic about it is that it won't be so heavy.... you'll notice the difference and other people as well just don't cut the length good luck and see your stylist for their opinon as well

There are many hairstyles you can do for your hair. I suggest you get side bangs and you can curl it or straighten it. But I am not done yet because you can get layers done with the side bangs. it will make it look really nice and it is basicailly the same style in the additional detailed link that you gave. I think its the eprfect hairstyle and you can also clip it back. Wear the style with a headband. Did I also mention that there are mnay celebs who do this hairstyle like: Ashley Tisdale, Brenda Song, Jessica SImpson, Nicole Richie, Hilary Duff and many more. I tried washing my hair a million times and i tried tomato juice and baby lotion, and nothing is working, someone said to try rubbing alcohol and another said to try dishwashing soap...but im scared to use those products on my hair...any other ideas?

The smell is from the potency of the product. Unfortunate ly it's going to smell for a few days. Don't worry it gets better... Nothings going to help but time.

I work at a hair salon but I have never cut her hair before, I have trimmed it a couple times. She told me that she wants to cut her "princess hair and give it to a kid with no hair.

How short you should cut it?? I think you have to check with the people you are going to donate it to... they need a specific length to work with. And before you cut if off, have your daughter wear a wig the same lenght that she will have it so it won't be so dramatic on her not having the hair she is used to having.

Since she's never really had a short hair do it's probably best to consult with her before deciding on how short you should go. I mean some adults still get traumatize when they get a hair cut that is shorter than what they expect and ends up regretting it. For a child it might be worse? But who knows since she is so caring it might not bother her.

I had hair like that. When I was in the 4th grade I cut it half to my back and then in 7th grade after growing past my butt I cut it to my chin and donated it. That was able to make two wigs for someone. You should see what type of hair style or how short your daughter wants it to be.

Your daughter wants to do something so amazing for a child to think about. Be very proud of her, and remind her and anyone else who complains about the cutting that it is hair and will grow back. Call the organization you want to give her hair to. They sometimes have guidelines on how long they want the donated hair. I believe it's about 10 inches. I think with your babies on the way that a short hair cut for your daughter may just give you an easier time than brushing all that hair. Maybe a cut that's to the shoulders, if you want could have it flip when you had time to dress her up, or just long enough to pull it into a short ponytail. I always had my daughters hair pulled up for school because of the threat of lice. Good luck with everything you have got going on.

Try Locks of Love. I think the recommend at least 10 inches. I would only cut off what you need to. She may be a bit shocked by anything really short. I am guessing you could cut it at her shoulders and have approx 10 inches. If you find you only need 7-8 inches, then only cut that much. I would look into the program you wish to send it to first to be sure you are cutting enough for their needs.

What does your hair look like now? Long? Short? Curly? Straight? Depending on your current cut and hair type you should consult a hair stylist. For example wavy/straight shoulderlength hair looks great in layers.

If you don't want a haircut, try crimping it. Put small braids in it when it's wet (at least 10 if not 20) and sleep on it, when you take them out in the morning, it looks and feels really cool!

Whatever you do, don't go too drastic at the beginning -- you don't want to be upset later -- Hair takes a long time to grow out!

You need lots of little rubber bands.Section hair on top of you head into 3 little ponytails.Section off the first ponytail into two more ponytails.Do this to the other 2 ponytails you began with.Now,take one ponytail from first ponytail and link it with one part of second ponytail.Repeat with third.You can then section off these ponytails and do the same thing with them.If you can understand my directions this is really pretty!

without getting too complex, to make my own hair thicker, take a shower late at night and don't blow dry or anything, just go to bed with it down and wet, don't worry about knots or anything, trust me, it looks great.

i just think you should really try it and see if it helps before you go out and buy a bunch of junk that probably won't work

Whenever you're brushing your hair (especially after you wash it) throw it in front of you so it's covering your face and brush from the roots at the nape of your neck.

my hair is naturally brown. I use LOREAL light golden blonde hair dye and have for the past 4 years. Same color.

Now heres my question. I want to get really blonde highlights throughout my hair. would that look ok? Also.. after i get it highlighted blonde color, am I able to get a few medium brown highlights mixed in as well? here is my picture.

Right now, you have 1 color, all over. That's your "base" color. To liven up your color and make it even more incredible, you are interested in adding 2 more colors, a lighter blonde and a rich brown.

When you go to your hairdresser, tell your hairdresser you are interested in a dimensional color. Blonde highlights and brown lowlights. This can all be done at the same time.

Your hairdresser will mix up a blonde highlight product in one bowl and a brown low light product in another bowl.

The application technique will be foils. In one foil the lightener and in the next one the brown low lights. Your hairdresser will alternate colors in every other foil.

Would it be a good idea to dye my hair to a light brown color which would require me to dye my eyebrows? Would it look good or would it be a disaster? Dying your hair is tricky business. 75% of the time, your hair doesn't come out the way you want to. Since your hair is so dark, dying your hair won't be easy. Don't do anything out of your comfort level. Stick with styles/looks you feel good about and don't try to be someone your not. A fun thing to do is to ask the stylist (assuming you trust them) to do what they think will look best.

Otherwise, take a look at celeb pics and compare your face shape to theirs, seeing what kind of hairstyles starts with a similar shape tend to go for. Then choose one of those if you like them.

My dog bites his hair off his front and back legs to the point he's pink and recently he's started bleeding and getting scabs. I've taken him to the vet and they've put him on meds, it helps but as soon as it runs out he starts biting again and he can't be on the meds for more than 2 weeks. The vet then suggest oatmeal shampoo and conditioner which I've tried and still nothing. Any other options I hate seeing him bleed.

Obviously your vet diagnosed something, so talk to your vet and see what other options you have. If he can only be on the meds that have been prescribed for two weeks I'm guessing they're antibiotics, which could be prescribed for a lot of things, but possibly hot spots? Your dog might also have food allergies, mange, fleas, nervousness...you really need to talk to your vet (and if he/she doesn't give you alternatives that work, see a different vet). In the meantime, as a last resort you might put an Elizabethan collar on your dog (those big round funnel-looking collars that prevent dogs from biting or licking their bodies). Your dog will hate it, but it's better than creating open sores.

The first of a New Year is just about the best time for updating everything - including one's looks! I have several ideas:

1. Go to the website www.thehairstyler.com. This site allows you to upload a full face, "looking straight into the camera" photo of yourself and then view yourself with over 7000 styles with 52 different colors! Print out those you love, and take them to the salon.

2. You didn't mention how long your hair is, but go to a grocery or book store and head for the magazine department. There should be at least 5 magazines devoted totally to hairstyles. Some (retail for about $5) have over 400 pictures. THERE ARE SPECIAL MAGAZINES FOR SHORT HAIR - that's why I mentioned the length of your hair. Make sure the magazines you select show the styles from various angles.

3. Go to the salon a day in advance so you're not rushed. THEY HAVE books filled with hairstyles. Write down the book name and page number of the styles that "hit" you! And, yes, they'll welcome you since you're coming in the next day for the actual appointment.

4. I also don't know your age or lifestyle (when I was a 35 year-old attorney I did my hair entirely differently than I do now as a 49 year old artist). I also don't know the shape of your face or the amount of time you want to work with your hair each morning. All of those factors make a MAJOR difference in what styles are fashionable, manageable, %26amp; flattering. Explain all of these factors to your stylist, it will help him/her really make you happy!!

5. Stylists LOVE PHOTOS - a picture is worth 1,000 words - especially when you're describing someone's looks. On occasion I work as a police sketch artist - trust me, how a witness describes a suspect can be VERY DIFFERENT from the actual appearance. [that's why we try to get descriptions from as many witnesses as possible and make a "composite" drawing!] Between the website listed above and your investment in a $5 magazine you will most assuredly help your stylist.

P.S. In answer to your 2 ideas - here are my thoughts. Stylists generally don't like to highlight black hair since it's naturally going to look fake. Now, if you're 16 and want some hot pink highlights - GO FOR IT! They might be comfortable putting in some dark auburn highlights - but when you look on the boxes of highlighter sold at beauty stores - they usually have a note about working with black hair. Maybe a foiling technique adding 3 colors might be doable - JUST DON'T FORCE YOUR STYLIST TO DO SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN TELL SHE'S NOT COMFORTABLE WITH - A GOOD STYLIST WON'T DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!

Now, for layering - THAT'S A SUPER idea - curly hair responds wonderfully to layers because they "lighten" the weight of the hair and give you maximized volume.

I guess in the end, trust your hair stylist and maybe just make one change at a time so that you'll be overwhelmed by a totally new look that's too "shocking" for you. We don't want you shocked - JUST STRIKINGLY BEAUTIFUL.

but i also use oil stuff by V05 and conditioner u leave in by revlon and i put spray leave on conditioner and fruitis (garn.) conditioner for hard to grow hair...any other ideas ..plz help

Well dont know how it happened..it takes 3 people to give him a haircut !! I just cry and cry..!

He's dad is going to do it this weekend !

Since his very first hair cut around 1 yrs, he is just the most pitiful thing, it would break your heart!

We try to just do it every 3 mo. or so.

Ive tried the mall , some specialize in kids cuts, have special vices, airplane seats and all.Didnt work.

He has never liked any loud, buzzing sound.

Just little things like when he was a baby, he would hide under the bed, when he was watching the Pink Panther cartoon, cause he was using an electric tooth brush Even when Dad cuts his mustache he runs in panic, cause its like the clippers.

Also every time i vacum i have to put him and some toys on his top bunk...its really sad !

So back to the hair cut.."any ideas?

alllll of my litte brothers are scared of hair cuts too.

even when i jsut use scissors. i watched my brother cry and cry for his first hair cut. but after that he was fine.

is he only scared of load nosies? then jsut use scissors.

Do his hair yourself, or have his dad do it. Have a movie playing, give him a lollipop ( of anything else on a stick that he enjoys) and constantly talk to him during the hair cut, ask him questions. keep his mind off the hair cut.

sometimes you just have get through it the first time and then they'll get over it.

My daughter hated getting her hair cut when she was little.I would sit in the chair and let her sit in my lap.That way you can hold her arms.It can be a little messy but it always made her feel more secure.Maybe earplugs for the noise?You could wear them also.My daughter grew out of her fear.Hopefully he will too.Good luck.

When I took my 1 1/2 year old son to get his hair cut, we took him to a place called Clippers for Kids. They were excellent there. Try to do away with the clippers. Most clippers do scare children. Have them sit in front of a TV watching their favorite show, have them play a video game. Have him take control of the clippers to show him that they are harmless. Have dad give him his mustache trimmer (if he has one), to show him that it is harmless as well. Once the child gets use to the item and knows its not going to harm him, he should lighten up a little bit and make things much easier for you and the hair dresser! Good luck!!

Then show him the clippers in a non haircutting situation, just to show him how it doesnt hurt. use it on his arm or somewhere. or take him and one of his buddies together and let the buddy get his hair done first (of course make sure it is someone he truly likes, and someone who isn't afraid of the clippers). Then he will see it is ok. I had a 5 year old boy in my daycare who had a disability and was afraid of loud noises and these are the things I did before I took him for his hair cut.

when I have my hair down, it always goes in my face on one side. I don't even have like side bangs, my hair is parted fairly close to the middle so I don't understand why it always goes in my face.

You can do the simple things like putting your hair in a ponytail or pulling the hair back with clips.

Another way is to get layers and curl your hair. When you curl your hair, always curl it towards the back of your head. That will keep the hair out of your face.

Lastly, stand tall and look up so your hair is not falling in your face from looking down.

Is the hair straight or curly? Cause with straight you can braid it in a circle but leave the top part of the hair out very small so when you sow up the small circle you have hair to cover over but make sure it is very close and very small

but if you use curly make sure you close the circle small and tight and the curly hair will cover with out leaving your hair out I hope this help cause I'm not sure of the style your trying to get

leave the natural hair out at the top so when all the weave is sewn in you can lay the natural hair over it... it will blend it in and make it look better.

In order to achieve a full head weave without the use of a closure piece, you use the cornrow-based or "bee-hive" technique. Starting at the crown of the head, you cornrow the hair in a continuous circle around the head. Make sure the cornrows are small, and tightly together. When the entire head is braided, it will take the form of a bee-hive. Once this is done, starting in the very back of the head, sew the weave onto the braids. Follow along in the same direction on the braids (around the head) until you reach the very top (crown) of your head (where the braids end). At the crown of you head, there should be a very small circle with the track exposed. You sew that small area together to close up the weave, and hide the track.

Dont cut it drastically, just get a trim and I mean just get the crap off the ends. Also you should try buying clip in hair extensions on ebay, they are cheap and easy to put in. You can get nice ones for about 鎷?0. If you are going to, make sure that you get human hair ones, you can dye, straighten, curl or whatever its just like your own hair! Its what I do.

after all, the hair that isnt in your head is essentially dead, so it doesnt matter what you do to the ends.

Haha, you're practically the same as me; only muchhhhh taller! I can help with hair and make-up, though.

Make-up: Since you have bright blue eyes, to show them off use contrasting colors, like browns. I like to thinly line brown eyeliner on my lower eye and then smudge, so it looks like its barely there. I put on a bit of shimmery light brown eyeshadow, a coat of brown mascara (black is too over-powering for our complexion/blonde hair), and I'm off! Keep the lips light since your playing up your eyes. If you have any pimples, use a non-condemgenic (so it doesn't clog your pores) concealer.

Hair- Side ponytails are sooo in! They work for casual and formal events! If you have side-bangs, leave those out and it'll look gorgeous! And for those bad hair days, messy buns are the way to go. No one will ever know you're having a bad hair day! The "pouf" is also very in. You can keep the rest of your hair down, put it in a ponytail, low pigtails, side pony (kinda like my avatar), or whatever!

Clothes- To make your blue eyes pop, use blue colors. I'm a mere 4'10 (I'm only 12!), soo I don't know much about shopping for taller people like yourself. Good luck!

I have thin hair, not straggly thin but thin. Anyways everytime I go out in windy conditions my hair get horrible knots in it, is there a way to prevent this? I know that wearing my hair up is an obvious answer but it's winter in MI and wearing my hair up every day is not practical. If it's deep black, don't get highlights. They don't look good against black. Try getting angles. I wouldn't change the color...it's hard to maintain.

Well first of all "scene" is a better word for goth. so if you are goth then go right ahead. but i think you would look best in medium length hair, and just ask your stylist for angles and layers. You will look amazing!

Make up:

Eyes: Use mascara to make your eyes bigger. Also use eyeliner sparingly. Light brown eyeshadow is good too.

Cheeks: find a powder that is your skin color. Use blush sparingly.

Lips: light lip colors. use lipstick and lip gloss.

Clothing:

Layers are so in right now. So shop at Abercrombie or Hollister. They have amazing clothes that would be good for you. Wetseal is also good too. If you are going to a formal party, go to Jessica McClintock for dresses.

I have medium, curly/frizzy hair and I'm geting it permanetely straightened also.

You can just let it air-dry and it will last 4-12 months. And when it fades, you can just get it re-done.

But even if it does get slightly damaged, its better than spending a long time straightening it out and damaging it EVERY day, right?

I had my hair straightened through the japanese ionic method. Definite damage, but after a while, I really loved it and put lots of oils in it to replenish it.

It sounds like you have different hair than I do though. I agree with the folks that said to use different hair products. DON'T wash your hair every day; twice a week would be best. You can use leave in water based products that help with frizz. I really like Aubrey Island Naturals shampoo and conditioner. Also check out Curlfriends! Tie it to the collar, or just around its neck. Remember, if you can't slip two fingers between the collar/fabric, and the dog's neck, its probably too tight!

Yeah, take a hot glue gun and there ya go. Super glue may work too.

Make a rossette bow. Take ribbon, wrap it 3 or 4 times around 3 fingers. Keep it rolled like that, but get the ends even with each other (hopefully not at the very top or bottom). Cut the corners slightly (so they look like a dogeared picket fence - flat on top where it folds). Turn the roll so that part is in the middle with what was the bottom part. Take a rubber band, and secure the indented so it looks a little like a regular bow. Pull out the layers on the inside so it looks more round and you have a rosette. Take another rubberband, run it through the rubberband on the bow and run her collar through it. (I use little rubberbands like you use for holding braides or better yet, like the orthodontist gives you for braces.)

I have really thick/wavy hair too. I've had my hair in all kinds of styles. My best suggestion to you, since you already have shoulder length, is to get layers, maybe 2-3. To keep it from puffing out, use bed bed manipulator when your hair is wet. Dry it using a round brush, then flat iron it. This will weigh it down a bit, make it straight and shiny.

Yeah, you definitely don't want to make the layers too short, or you will end up with the dreaded Triangle Head- when your hair puffs out so much on the sides that your head starts to look like a triangle. When you go to the salon, tell your stylist you want long layers- the shortest one should only be about 3 inches shorter than the longest layer on your head. This will keep your hair long enough where it still won't poof out, but it will also get rid of some of the bulk. Thick hair can look sort of huge if you let it grow all one length. Layers definitely reduce some of the thickness and create some movement so it's not boring. It will create some cool wavy pieces and add some definition to the natural curl of your hair without making it frizzy.

I have natural dark brown hair. Now it is a light brunette with a lot of blonde streaks. The roots are showing about two inches from the scalp so I'm dying my hair black. Ive ALWAYS wanted it to be black. But, I am British/100% European. I have REALLY fair skin. I want it to be Jet Black, but I have decided on Midnight Black[[Black with a bluish tint]]...

But I'm worried that my hair will turn BLUE from the dye. I might get it done professional. But, I dont know if I can afford it or not...

i recently used a midnight black on a girl with brown hair and very pale skin.. she had dyed her hair blonde and we were covering that up.

it turned out looking really really nice...

the only thing is i had to put a toner through it first because her hair was bleached.

so in final advice...

because you have dyed your hair,

i would go back to the salon so your hair doesn't get damaged. or you could try doing it yourself but it's not the best of ideas.

and i have never heard about having to shave your hair off after dying it black..

Yes, do not use the bluish tint. The blonde streaks will most definitely pull the blue.

Try a very dark brown or another shade of black. When you color your hair black though, be prepared to be washing the color out of your hair each time you shampoo for about a week or so. This happens because dark colors have the most saturation. Its perfectly normal so don't freak out.

I dont think that you would have a problem with extensions, but i have never seen any asians with extensions. The only problem i would see is the texture maybe too straight to hold them in properly but then again the hairweave has evolved a great deal.

the ones you glue in are really difficult to wash and brush, and if they're not made of natural human hair then you can't use heated appliances (straighteners/tongs) on them coz it doesn't work and they would melt!

clip in extensions are the best, clip them in under the top layer of your hair so you can't see where they've been clipped in.

I would definately say so, I have just spent ages putting them into my hair.

If you get the extentions that are on the wefts you usually have to glue them in, which lasts me around 3 weeks. I then take them out and do have some malting from where the remaining glue is in my hair. this stops after a day or so, and would never be anymore then if you were thoroughly brushing your hair repeatedly anyway. If you have thick hair this will not be too bad for you. You can also remove the remaining glue with Henna Wax.

The only problem I really see for you is the fact that the extention on the top is quite thick as it has the hair sewn into it, so you would be making your roots even thicker. If you just put some on the bottom section of your hair I am sure it would be fine.

My hair was colored black several weeks ago and I was bored of it. So today I colored it with Loreal True Brunettes, Light Ash Brown. Now of course the box said that it would take my hair from black to a light brown, but it did not. All my roots ended up orange and the rest of my hair is still black.

I have colored my hair many many times and never had this happen. I don't hate it, but it is not what I wanted.

Hair is, for the most part, protein. Increase the amount of protein in your diet and you hair (and nails) should grow a little faster.

Find a salon that specializes in long hair. They have a technique called "dusting" where they just take the split ends. It doesn't shorten your hair and it allows it to get longer. You have already learned to stay away from chemical treatments. Also, women during certain periods of time go through a hormonal change that can prevent hair from growing for up to a year. It will pass. Help yourself from the inside out as well. Make sure you don't have a vitamin deficiency, that can make a difference. Showering less than once a day is not an option. Every other day when you wash your hair, just put the shampoo on the top of your head. It will still run through your hair but it won't be as damaging as scrubbing the ends. Hot oil treatments are helpful sometimes too. You don't need to buy the expensive ones, they're just mineral oil. For long hair, it's much less expensive to use warm (not HOT HOT) baby oil. Put it in your hair, leave it for a few minutes, wash it out, just like the expensive ones. Hope that helps

ok here is what i know about hair growing. my hair is mid back i ahev never had trouble with it growing, but sometimes it does grow slower than other time here are some things you can do to avoid damage that promots hair growth

evaluate how offten you color your hair if it is more than 3 times a year than cut that down to three times a year

stop blowdrying your hair peirod for at least a month and dont blow dry more than twice a week

do not chemically straighten you hair invest in a good flat iornand dont use it close to your roots.

dont perm your hair for the next year

take showers but buy a cap or avoid shampooing it...it is ok to conition it everyday but not shampooing...also by a gental shampoo

Coloring(especaly lightening) your hair, blowdrying, perming, over washing, and any chemical even hair spary, etc all damages you foliculs(sp?) which dramaticaly slows and even stops hair from growing and if you do it too much you can permanatly destroy foliculs. also it breaks hair as you can see.

good luck!! dont expect to see too much of a change in growth for a few month but if you go by these rules for the next year you should see a great difference.... there is NO quick fix

Okay i need some hair and makeup ideas. I'm so bored with the usual ponytail or messy bun. Or the simple gold/brown shadows. My eyes are hazel, more yellow gold like with specks of hunter green and brown...i love my eye color. I usually wear black eyeliner on my bottom lid always and only once in a while on my top lid, black mascara and whatever eyeshodaow matches my mood/outfit for the day. My hair is a bit past my shoulders with a slight wave in it. sometimes i straighten it other times i dont. im bored with the pony tail or messy bun etc etc. I want some new ideas. can you give me any for both my hair and makeup? as far as you hair - i would wear it down and scrunch it for more wave or curl. maybe off to one side. maybe even some braids. as far as eye make up browns and golds are a more natural look but maybe you could go with some corals or pinks. put eye liner on the top and not on the bottom. as far as hair color that is really your choice as you have to live with it. hope this helps. good luck.

I can't see the pics right now (myspace blocked at work!) but considering your eye colour I would go for green eyeshadow. Not too much but a little on the crease of your eye and along the bottom. you can mix this with the brown eyeshadow too. Putting a little bright green in the corners of your eyes will look cool too, or any bright colour infact, especially if it's slightly shiny/metallic

My niece spent two months of her summer in the hospital and a part of that on life support. She had a bowel blockage, went into septic shock and ended up on life support with acute respiratory distress syndrom. They gave her a 2% chance to survive and she made it. Now her hair is coming out in handfuls. Any ideas to stop this?

I would advise to work closely with her doctors to be sure there is not another health reason for the hair loss.

My experience has been that stress plays a large roll in hair loss and DIET. Her age group tends to think they are invincible and they do not get a good balance of fruits and veggies. I have really curly hair, and I cant do anything with it!!! I usally straighten my hair, but it takes a while. So I dont have time every morning, which sucks. I use plenty of hairspray after my showers so my hair would stay as a nice wave all day long, but my hair looks like I dunked it into toothpaste since it looks way to solid. My hair needs your ideas ... It has plenty of volume, but way to much!!! Please help with a list of ideas ... Thx.

Since your hair is prone to dryness, use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

After washing, gently blot hair dry with an absorbent towel and apply 4 to 6 drops of silicone-based shine serum (the thicker your hair, the more you can use).

Detangle hair with fingers, and allow it to air dry.

just use a moos... i use tresemme for curly hair and a scrunch spray from aussie.... they have worked good for me.... It is hard to do much with curly hair... but yeah i usually just leave it down or in a pony tail...

i hear you! i have the same kind of hair, i take a shower, and use sunsilk straitening shampoo, even though it doesn't straighting, then i take "sebastian professional Threads," and go throgh it. it really helps, my hair ussually stays at a nice wave.

In order to get white hair you need to bleach it. The problem with that is that it absolutely KILLS your hair. In order to get it white, you need to use a heavy bleach that can only be done professionally. But even with this, you hair will be as dry as straw and will be pretty much made of split ends. its a problem.

If you want a black hair color just go anywhere to get a true black color. If it is genuinely black and not just dark dark brown, it will appear to have a blue tint. This happens whether you want it or dont. The best thing I can find is Clairol natural blue black hair dye. It will do the trick. Be very careful though, once you dye your hair black it is very hard to remove because you can't dye over it. You just have to wait til it grows out. Make sure to put a lot of thought into what you want. Here's the website.

just put a dark blue on it and the black will pick up a blue hue. It may be subtle, but you'll see it. It will make your black super super super black. As black as it gets. Which I think looks cool. Go for it! :)

i am one to always change my hair. its been super long past my shoulders, its been buzzed all off, its been all the colors from green to purple, blond to red. Well now, my hair is the type of style thats longer in the front and shorter in back. I like it, but its getting really long, even though most people will think its short, and I wanna cut it and do something different. Any ideas? I like it choppy with layers. But i want to keep my bangs long because i just grew them out and it took a long time to do that. im thinking maybe cut my hair the length of my bangs.

usually when i get my hair cut i just tell her some idea of what i want, then the rest i say do whatever you want to do to my hair. so any ideas on what i could do?

I am getting may hair done as a birthday treat next week, but I have no idea what I want done to my hair.

I have a very round face and long thin and fine hair which always make is difficult to fine a style that suits me. I usually suit very short hair styles but I want to keep its longish, chin length at least. (my hair is a couple of inches below my shoulders) Anyone got any ideas?

I have trawled through online hair companies for ideas but I just dont know what will look good...

I have very fine hair. Highlights help give it a bit of texture. I can't have it long as it looks too straggly. At the moment I have it in a blunt bob (no layers but very slightly graduated at the back). It looks good, I wash %26amp; condition it then apply a light volumiser (the Aveda one is excellent) and either tip my head upside down and blow dry or scrunch it into curls (my hair is naturally quite wavy).

I have extremely fine hair. Bleach (or highlights) helps give the hair some texture so it appears thicker. Depending on your natural colouring, perhaps you should try this?

probably want to cut it as low as possible to start all over...Go to a stylist and ask what is the best way to treat your hair to grow...This would and will be the best way to do things... Always use thicken conditioner to make your hair thick. You can buy this at any local store like: Wal-mart ect.

As a hairdresser if your hair is fine go for the POB i no its getting old now but it make fine dull hair look healthy and more fuller that way you can keep the front long at your chin and the back can be graduated if you not keen on that go for the more normal shoulder length BOB try blow drying your hair differently it will give you more body an volume...It will look great trust me!!

I have very thin hair, and a round face, so getting it thicker and flattering has been a lifelong project! Firstly, bleaching it is great, it stops being flyaway and it gets thicker and easier to manage. If you don't want to be blonde, there are tons of great colours you can go for that will thicken your hair right up. I personally have an asymetric cut with a blunt fringe and layers, and my hair can be huge!

If you're not quite so adventurous, I would suggest you got for a blunt or shaggy bob with layers and a nice fringe that you can shape around your face. It makes your cheekbones much more pronounced and softens your face. You can have it a little asymetric, which looks incredible, and get a bit of colour on it. You'll love it I promise!

Okay, so my friend and I want to put extensions in our hair for homecoming, and we don't know if we should buy them like from a store and glue them in or get a weft (weave) that we can sew in each others hair, OR should we get them professionally done.

I don't want any answers like OH MY GOD NO THATS SO DAMAGING ! because she's gotten them before but we just want to know what would look better and what would be easier.

if u can do it and it looks well and u r short on cash then u can go ahead and do it at home. but just remember u want it for a special event, it can turn out to be a disaster if not done properly. u may opt for a reasonable salon or one that is on special

glue in extensions can get sticky and gross

and if you have eachother weave them in its gonna be way more complicated and too much work because you have to do horizontal corn rows and then sew the weft into the braid. If you use the wrong kind of thread it can actually slice the hair at the root.

Professtionally done. No Braiding. My friends have done that and it looks helluh obvious that way. If they glue it, then it should all blend in. Btw. the glue is pretty damaging it's self.. but it's your choice so w/e.
